My story.

My name is Brooklyn Benedikt. I am almost 14 years old. When I was 4½, I had open-heart surgery. There was a hole in my heart and the doctors said it needed to be fixed as soon as possible. My parents took me to Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center. It’s a really cool place and they made sure I was better.

The experience changed not just me, but my whole family. We support the hospital anyway we can:

• My little sister Quinn (she's awesome, by the way) and I donate our birthday presents every year to the sick boys and girls at the hospital. Since 2010, we've donated hundreds presents – and it makes us feel great.

• My parents tell my story in the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon.

• And as a family, we actively participate in their Go The Distance walk and family fun day – where we try to raise as much money as we can. Will you join my team?

I was 2012 Grand Marshal!

I could not believe when the hospital called and asked if I wanted to be the Grand Marshal. It was an experience I'll never forget. What an honor it was and something that meant the world to me. WCBS/880am even did a story on me. Check it out →

If you live near the Hudson Valley, bring your friends and family out for a day fun, laughs and helping this awesome hospital.
